Clinton Challenger Pauses Campaign

A republican rival of Sen. Hillary Clinton suspended her senate campaign after her 16-year-old daughter Camilla was arrested Saturday for shoplifting at two Suffolk County stores. Kathleen McFarland said she would rejoin the race when she and her husband are sure their daughter is okay and getting help. "This is an incident we do not take it lightly," said McFarland in a statement. "Our daughter is a bright and wonderful child who we love very much. She has made a serious mistake and she will deal with the consequences of her actions." —Mike McPhate
