Koi: Not Coy about Being Great

Fashionista’s reunite! Hail Koi restaurant in New York City which seamlessly and successfully harmonizes food and fashion.

The cutting-edge décor generates a sexy, sultry vibe. The complexity of the interior is laced with dark wood furniture and coffee-colored seating with a backdrop of luscious, lavish greenery which adds to the indoor garden theme. Decadent Asian-influenced décor with orchids, bamboo and an abundance of Buddha statues, is a great destination for a post-work pick me up or a first date.

Located in the Bryant Park area, Koi is surrounded by lush, green scenery feauturing flowers which change every season. Nestled between a valley of skyscrapers, Koi is a stand out exception to the cookie-cutter restaurants that fill the area. Thankfully, historical monuments and metropolitan amenitites surround Koi, allowing for this fashionable hidden treasure to fit in perfectly. It is a hidden gem without being too off the beaten track.

The menu at Koi is Japanese with a twang of some Californication. Signature Japanese dishes abound, such as: Grilled Skirt Steak with Crispy Red Onions and Sesame Sauce or Miso-Bronzed Black Cod with Seasonal Vegetables. Only the finest, freshest, most succulent fish is used by the sushi chefs who create a perfect signature roll filled with such options like: octopus, snow crab, uni and yellowtail.

Their sushi is always raved about. One would advise you to sit as close to the sushi bar as possible since it is the best seat in the house. You get to watch these carefully selected chefs preparing these immaculate dishes. The crispy rice is a small, rectangular portion of rice, drizzled with spicy tuna and a slice of jalapeño; it’s of the best things I have ever eaten. This is definetly the number one must-try dish on this outstanding menu.
The drink menu is not to be overlooked. A personal favourite is the Ginger Mojitio which is infused with rum, mixed mint and ginger with a hint of lime. Another must try is Koi’s signature drink called the Koi –Tini and contains sparkling rose, triple sec, pomegranate, orange. Absolut Acai Berri, muddled blueberries and white cranberries create an amazing concoction entitled Blue Sky which is arguably the drink of the summer.

Whether you’re looking to unwind after a long day, friends are visiting the city, or going to a nice dinner with that special someone, Koi is guarenteed to meet the highest of standards and to wow your guests. Try it and we know that you won’t leave disappointed!
