Primary: Front-Runners Triumph

The favorites in the statewide primaries prevailed in Tuesday’s vote. With nearly all precincts reporting, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Elliot Spitzer, John Spencer and Andrew Cuomo were each declared winners. Clinton and Spitzer both won by landslide, while Cuomo defeated Mark Green in the bitter battle for Attorney General by 20 percentage points. In the local primary races, Yvette Clarke, Andrew Lanza, and John Sabini each won their districts.—Mike McPhate
