Lower East Side Synagogue Renovated

Lower East Side Synagogue Renovated The renovation of the city's oldest synagogue is now complete. The Chasam Sopher Synagogue on the Lower East Side, which has undergone a three-year restoration project, has now been renovated. It has stood since the 1800s, and the restoration project cost several million dollars. Renovations include improvements to the building's brick façade, a new roof, floors, stained glass windows and a 2,000 square foot garden that is open to the public. -- Aly Walansky
