Lower East Side Synagogue Renovated
The renovation of the city's oldest synagogue is now complete.
The Chasam Sopher Synagogue on the Lower East Side, which has undergone a three-year restoration project, has now been renovated. It has stood since the 1800s, and the restoration project cost several million dollars.
Renovations include improvements to the building's brick façade, a new roof, floors, stained glass windows and a 2,000 square foot garden that is open to the public.
