AG Foes Come out Swinging

The contenders for New York’s next attorney general, the closest statewide race, faced off colorfully in their first debate yesterday. The Republican Jeanine Pirro on Andrew Cuomo’s readiness for office: "Your running for Attorney General would be like me running for Joe Torre's position because I played softball 21 years ago." The Democrat Cuomo on Pirro’s ethics: "There is a candidate who is being accused of criminal wrongdoing...That's not me, however." A new poll by Siena Research Institute found the race tightening, with Cuomo’s lead on Pirro down to 13 points from 17 in September—Mike McPhate
